More businesses are trying to embrace online marketing, the trend is here but it seems most of them are still hesitant, I guess we still need to see some significant financial results coming out of social media strategies in order to convince small businesses that such an investment can pay off. Search engine optimization is still the leading tool for online b2b marketing, together with email.
Whether businesses like it or not, online marketing will eventually overpass traditional marketing, there is no doubt about it for two main reasons:
1. The way people interact has changed forever, there is more information on their hands than ever and the influence of their close friends circle is enormous (this is just old fashioned free word of mouth advertising, served in a new modern package called “social media” and “social influence”)
2. It is easy to quantify the success of an online marketing campaign because it can be measured. You can track exactly how many new buyers a $100,000 investment in search engines has brought in.
